Dependent on who you talk to, a few people just love an English accent while some people cringe when they hear such a sound. And no matter where in the world we are we are able to hear it on TV, radio, music, audio books and I even heard it latterly on a weight loss MP3. The thing is, like in any country, the accent can change significantly dependent on what part of the country the individual is from. If you actually like a British accent be aware if you ever travel the country for it changes dramatically.
And regardless of whether you like, love or perhaps even say you dislike, hate a British accent almost everybody might admit there are a few things a bit charming about it. Its the use of words and grammar that goes along with it that makes it all so unique in opposition to the way in which the English language has been butchered over a period and has lost some of its eloquence and style. Can you imagine James Bond speaking like he was from Brooklyn, Big Apple or the Jersey Shore? Now I’m cowering just at the thought of that. Hey yo… My names Bond. James freakin Bond. No, I dont think so. It might change everything about the James Bond picture of elegance, style and class.
And as fast as you turn the dial on a radio station, hear a voice off the TV or hear somebody delivering any kind of dialogue from anything audible, that English accent is spotted right away. Personally, I love it a lot as long as its not too harsh like folks in some locations in Britain sound. When I have traveled across parts of the country of England I found it sometimes very hard to understand one word being said and it almost hurt my ears to listen. Similar to listening to someone from the deep south in the United States who sounds like they could be speaking another language altogether. Meanwhile, there are parts of America where people talk with what is considered no accent at all .
All in all I enjoy the charming lilt of a British accent and the way it is delivered in such an interesting demeanour as long as its merely a slight and not too deep of that straight away recognized English sound. And to go along with the accent I usually find it engaging how phrases, words and language differs from the British when speaking English in contrast to American usage of the language. As it’s been said, they’re 2 countries divided by the same language.
And bizarrely enough the English landed at Plymouth rock in Massachusetts and from there it all modified. But we do have to also realize the North American sound of English was impacted by all of the languages and accents that arrived over time and influenced the sound and way of speech. Either way, I’m happy the English accent has stayed true to itself and continues on.
