How do you become a model? Most people only see the glamorous part of the business, but when it comes right down to it, it is very hard work. Sometimes it can be boring because not all jobs pay well. When you’re first starting out in the business, there is a lot of competition. You have to be able to keep up with it 24/7. This means staying in tip top shape all the time. You can’t always eat what you want to eat. A few pounds added can mean no to a particular job that might come up. Lots of people want to get into this field, so unless you’re committed to it full time, you won’t make it.

Professional pictures are not necessary, you just need a close up of your face and a nice body shot in a model posing. Go to the modeling agencies with the photographs you have. A lot of models decide to get portfolios done. This can be a good move to make. These dimensions of the photographs are about 8 x 10 to 9 x 12. 10 to 12 good pictures of yourself done in different ways are all you need to get started. You want to have color and black and white. The following shots should be put into your book, a variety of headshots, full body pictures, bathing suits, lingerie, commercial and fashion pictures.

More than one photographer should take pictures of you. You can do what most models do to get prints, pose for them. You can get some nice pictures taken with a digital camera and place them on a CD. Now get the best pictures of yourself printed up. Make sure you look at the photographers work before deciding to shoot with them. Steer clear of anyone who takes nude photos. Make sure you go with some kind of an escort or tell someone else where you will be at.

Now you’re going to want to take your best photos and make a comp card. Sometimes they call this a zed card as well. A comp card is a models business card. This is going to make the first and best impression on the agencies that you go to. Make sure that they printing quality is very good and that it will stand up to the test of time. Don’t print just one agencies contact information on the card. You’ll want to sign up with as many agencies as possible to get work.

Now you’re all set to pay some modeling agencies a visit. Pick up the phone and make an appointment. You can even send your photographs to some agencies online. If someone asks you for money, turn and walk out the door. These places collect money from the work that they find you. Now you know some of my tips on how to become a model.
